By the way, I didn’t really have a favorite. I saw it as a battle between Lewis, the cool and gracious master racer and strategist, and Max, the brash, often rude and too aggressive, but superbly talented racer. Lewis and Mercedes were a little too cool and not willing to take a risk and they paid for it.

LOL. How do you feel about football and VAR?

I’ve never seen someone basically deliberately STOP like this. Lewis isn’t dumb. It was a pretty astute move, actually, once you get the lawyers involved. His misfortune was that Max didn’t allow himself to get baited and jump the gun on the restart, but he wasn’t far off.

Interestingly, not only did Merc make their decision (and asked Lewis which tire he preferred in the event of a SC), they then reversed said decision when the SC did, in fact, materialize. You don’t get a mulligan for that.

Yeah. But that’s Masi’s fuckup, not Max’s. I don’t see why Max has to suffer for it. As I’ve been saying here all along, Masi needs to go, but Max needs to stay 2021 champ. When a referee fucks up a football call, the match isn’t replayed and a different winner isn’t declared. The ref does get suspended on occasion,

I didn’t cite that as my “credentials” (of the legal profession, I have none). I cited that as the (limited) experience that shaped my (limited) ability to interpret a legal document. At no point in time did I represent myself as someone with a true legal background. But I am, in fact, more qualified to speak on legal

Checo wasn’t really battling for position - he knew Lewis would get by him eventually. His entire goal was to ensure that nothing untoward happened, but he managed to hold Lewis up for as long as possible. And Merc still whinged about “dangerous driving”.

Well, nobody said Merc weren’t petty.

Delayed effect of what? Latifi being unable to control his car after having been passed? I’m sorry, Mick isn’t responsible for the red mist in Latifi’s visor.

For me, the biggest problem was that they said they weren’t going to let the lapped cars pass, and then changed their mind 3 laps later, after the cars were all bunched.

Found the pedant.

I think you don’t get it. If they’d allowed the other cars to unlap themselves, it wouldn’t have left enough time to have a green flag lap

You can argue that “any” = “all” and you may or may not be successful. What you cannot argue is that this should have definitely ended under yellow. Why? There was plenty of time for the remaining three cars to overtake before the SC peeled off.

Depends on your fluency in legalese. Mine comes from working side-by-side with attorneys as a forensic accountant for five largely forgettable years and reading deposition upon deposition and legal decision upon legal decision. I’m not saying the decision isn’t bullshit or it is. But it’s exactly because you’re not an

Try British stewards for a British team AND a British driver. Mostly the British driver.

I did.

Lewis won’t even be in the conversation for GOAT until he’s won in the equivalent of the contemporary McLaren. Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Fangio, etc.

Methinks your first sentence is directly related to your second one.

>>>One would think they’d get their shit together for the last one with such a close competition

It was less Max fucking with Lewis than Lewis slowing down to nearly zero in hopes Max passed him under the SC and got a penalty. Incidentally the very thing Merc protested.
