I bet this easter egg signifies nothing.
Yep that was basically the opinion of my whole gaming group when we switched from 4 to 5. It was cool to be able to make crazy powerful christmas tree characters in 4, but holy hell battles that could take the better part of 4 or more hours just weren’t worth it.
My group dropped 4e as soon as 5 came out. We’ve brought in two total newbies since then and they both absolutely love it.
Yeah, it’s a nice way to introduce a new setting without having to publish an entire book of new monster stats (as nice as those can be to have).
I concur. My previous D&D experience ended with 2nd Edition, but I’ve found 5th to be easy to pick up and play— more streamlined and fun than breaking out the calculator and spreadsheets to role up a character in 3/3.5th, for sure.
Downloaded and I love this idea... It’s not super fleshed out, but it really doesn’t need to be if you have a good DM running your game. I’m excited that they actually did this... Kudos to the guys and gals at WotC :) After the bullshit that was 4E I am so glad that they have bounced back and breathed new life into…
But getting the seeds out of the permagranate is such a pain in the ass.
I did enjoy the pleasant staff and good eatin’, it’s true.
Goodbye Virgin. Never again.

There’s a lot of variations on a theme here. You can go all the way back to multiple authors adding their own stories to mythology, whether formal or not. Moving a bit forward from that, you can get the assorted King Arthur or Robin Hood writers.
