Other countries have dedicated motorcycle/scooter lanes. In Taiwan, the scooter lanes have their own on-ramps and off-ramps, and there are concrete barricades to protect them from cars.

But California is the only state where it is explicitly legal, while 12 other state leave it as a gray area. Everywhere else in the US, it’s illegal, and you only see assholes weaving through traffic doing wheelies when they do.
