Really? I’ve done indoor skydiving, and there’s no real sensation of anything most of the time, since you aren’t accelerating. You feel like you’re laying down face-first on an air mattress.

Sure, but blanketing California in raging infernos is absolutely very harmful. If my house had a wall of fire behind it, I’d want firefighters to be considering all options to save it.
The banana peels on the road are getting out of hand, not to mention the green shells careening block to block...
Eh, I have an SNES Classic and Super Mario Kart isn’t aging that well.
There was one time I wasn’t able to make a local-ish trip, but that was due to setting off with only 50% battery; I would have been fine with a full charge. I stopped at a DC fast-charger for 20min, got a cup of coffee, and drove home after that. Yes, it added time to my trip, and yes, that would not have happened in…
Putting HIDs in your halogen foglights is illegal and stupid, so no, I didn’t do that.
Compared to a Bolt, absolutely, and if I were in your shoes, I’d have bought an ICE car too. That said, the vast majority of Americans don’t have a 160mile roundtrip commute.
Done and done. Hella 500s on my Subaru WRX. I don’t believe the myth either.
It was about $1000 total for the charger and for an electrician to install a 50A breaker and a short 5' conduit from the electrical panel to the charger.
Rain/Snow, the yellow light of Halogens offer better lighting.
The tax credit, plus the fact that early EVs were quietly updated pretty quickly with more robust battery packs, etc.
Sure, we have a 2015 Leaf and use a ChargePoint level 2 home charger that has power monitoring built in. For the month of November, we used 269kWh for charging the car, and that cost us $27, so yes, your electric bill will obviously increase. That 270kWh translated to 940miles of driving the car.
I want to like these things. I want to like Electric cars. I just can’t get over the fact that non of them are actually drivers cars. The Model S is as close to it as it gets but it’s still riddled with all the semi autonomous BS.
Off Lease Nissan Leaf sell for 6-8K
I own a Gen1 Leaf, I’ve driven the 2018 Leaf prototype, and I’ve also driven an i3 (which is permanently set in this “one-pedal” mode), so I feel qualified to answer your question.
Justin, having to point out that someone is an investor in an automotive field just so you can air your grievances about them on a car blog is pretty pathetic.
That depends on which year of Leaf your friend had. In 2011-2012, yeah, they had a problem with the battery chemistry that dramatically shortened the lifespan in high temps, and the cars used conventional AC.
Sucks for your friend, but that’s totally avoidable. I’ve driven 30miles each way in the cold (so defrost, heater, and seat heaters on), and my Leaf make the trip with about 10 miles of range to spare. It’s really not that hard.
That’s trickling out as well. I believe Shell and BP are doing it in Europe, and there’s at least one Chevron station in my town with DC fast chargers.
I agree that you shouldn’t buy your friends and family an Echo, but for none of the reasons you state.
