Thanks! And thanks to you for doing the work you do! I know several people that would be dead if it weren’t for people like you.

Congrats on making it out.

Hi just wanted to say I am so happy for you. I work in addictions. Go you!!

Its incredibly sad. I work in tbe addictions field. Both state and the federal governments have been trying to fund opioid disorder programs. But it will surely be undone in the next administration.

congrats to you too! better days ahead

Thank you so much!

It just makes me sick. I went to multiple rehabs and detoxes and this story is so so so common. People who never drank a day in their lives, get into accidents, and it’s all downhill from there.

Our stories sound similar. Congrats on getting away from it. Dope, and shooting, is Pandora’s box. It’s one of those things like once it’s open it’s so hard to shut again. Seriously, it’s difficult to stay away from so good for you!!!!!

Well done on getting clean. Sadly there are probably another million people with pretty much the same story just in the US. Now these vultures wast to expand that.

I have smoked weed since I was 15 and never had an issue, but less than a year after taking oxy for the first time I was scoring dope in the streets. Been off that shit for 4 years but still get scared over what might have become of me.

Properly prescribed - especially after trauma, ie: surgery, and used short term it’s not at all harmful. It was pushed (and I use that word intentionally) for chronic pain, despite being highly addictive and increasingly ineffective if taken constantly.

Word. I’m grateful that when I shattered my ankle in a fall my doctors did not prescribe oxy, they started with a low dose of pain killers, and they encouraged me to wean myself off as soon as I could. I’m also lucky, opioids make me nauseous so I don’t see the draw of recreational use. And once a doctor said that

Ditto! I was on toxic amounts of Oxy every day for years but my pain is managed fairly well these days with marijuana and a really expensive mattress.

Congratulations on your sobriety. My partner took prescribed opioids for about 4 months and it nearly wrecked our marriage (and plumbing) the personality changes and mood swings were hell. He luckily got surgery and was able to wean off. He says he’ll never take them again

I used to take oxy on a daily basis, but medical marijuana has allowed me to quit almost entirely.

Yeah not taking oxy after the 5 surgeries on my shoulder was probably the best decision I ever made in my life.

I’m sure Trump’s pick for the FDA has a lot to say about this, at least after he gets done preparing to dismantle it.

Fuck this.

Unbelievable. If I recall correctly, from what I’ve read the whole “opiophobia” bullshit was used in the US in the 90s and is part of what got us into this whole disaster currently.

Oh, this is sure to end well.
