I AM DESPERATE. FOR. THIS. SEASON.

I mean, Pittsburgh has the additional complication of the Highmark/UPMC health insurance wars that basically make half+ of the resources inaccessible at any given point.

Well that picture is obviously shopped. Look up at the sky sometime, the moon is little. Also it is made of cheese. Everyone knows this.

When the veil and hijab were banned in France, some Muslim women were pleased because they said that Muslim men were pushing them to put on the stuff and having law on their side helped them to withstand the pressure from fathers, brothers, husbands, and religious leaders. Personally, I’m happy with the limits. I’d

This is not factually accurate, although the largest percentage of religious state schools in the UK are Church of England (22%) the majority of state schools in the UK are not affiliated to any religion at all (65%). This particular school is a private school, and the numbers on those aren’t as readily available,

I agree with you on being conflicted about this. I am especially conflicted given the fact that my best friend, who is Sunni Muslim, always tells me that the need for the veiling of the face is in fact NOT mainstream Islamic law, nowhere to be found in the Quran, and rather a cultural thing.

In the UK schools are not necessary secular - in fact most aren’t - I don’t know about Holland Park specifically.

I think you need your face to function in society. Call me old fashioned but non-verbal communication skills are important and especially between pupil and teacher.

My mom is an OB-Gyn that graduated from the American University of Beirut. Her classmates at medical school were mostly men who said they didn’t want to go into that field because they were told that most women wouldn’t want to be examined by them. She assumed it was just a cultural thing until she came to the States

She’s going to win, but I bet her daughter is going to have to transfer because of the awkwardness.

There’s so many ways to do it! Not just as an MD, but nurse practitioners do a lot of basic OB/GYN care if you wanted to be a primary provider, or there’s nursing for a more supportive (but super important!) role. You could also consider doula training, since a lot of places will have doulas for IUD insertions and

‘progress’ on these issues is dependent on the decline of religion. Less religion = fewer religious rules = fewer people discriminating against one another for arbitrary reasons.

I live in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Funk’s OB/GYN just retired and she is devastated about it. And also having a hard time finding the right replacement. This is absolutely a real issue here.

Only anecdotal, but this shortage is a very real problem in Mississippi. It’s not any BS liability scare issue either; we’ve had tort reform for over a decade here that shortened the statute of limitations on med mal claims and capped the damages. Liability insurance is NOT the issue. The OB-GYN and labor/delivery

Thank God Fox News kept telling us that we could get our gyno visits done at elementary schools and Walgreens so there’s no need for these people anymore!

Oh for sure. I lived through the 1994 quake so I’m not downplaying that risk.

We live in earthquake and landslide country here, with an earthquake made all the more terrifying since we haven’t a good shaker since the Northridge quake in 1994. And those hills are extraordinarily prone to damage from both an earthquake and mudslides. Those other monstrosity homes are also spread out over

I work in affordable housing, which includes managing construction of units. The regulation hoops you have to jump through to build and construct things, along with dealing with city and county inspectors is pretty complex and there are consequences if you don’t follow them. So this is complete and utter BULLSHIT that

Starship slander!
