There’s a whole lot of other mechanical bits that aren’t shown in that illustration, so I’m skeptical of the conclusions draw by McParland in that article.

So Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda currently build the only small, affordable sports cars sold in the States, Subaru will sell you a 300 HP AWD rally car for the street, Honda is bringing the Civic Type-R here, and Toyota is developing another sports car in partnership with BMW.

I’ve heard that XJs and Wranglers are basically unkillable, but my uncle’s WJ turned into a mechanical nightmare about five years ago.
