I think I would agree on both counts for the layout, but while I was fine with the tiny D-Pad for SoulCalibur, I just can’t accept it (or the linear slider analog triggers) for THPS. And no way in hell is anyone going to convince me that analog sticks even approach acceptable for that series (or for fighting games not…

Partly the shape. Partly the triggers (so, ok, maybe that part isn’t so true from PS3 onward). The face buttons and D-Pad feel different between PS1-4 (which are mostly the same) and the Xboxes (within the Xbox family, there’s oh so many changes). DualSense (PS5) has a stronger resistance that kinda hurts that though.

Hopefully other future Activision games will also be multiplatform under Microsoft rule. Maybe Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5: This Is The Only THPS5, The One You Remember Never Happened. Seriously, THPS feels so much better on PlayStation controllers than anything else.
