When I think of the excesses of the 1980's, I think of the Lamborghini Countach. Nothing says “cocaine and Wall Street” like the Countach.

People here desperately want vaccines - there are very few anti-maskers / anti-vaxxers - but the government just can’t get the supply.

Exactly. Our used Toyota came with decent “all-weather” rubber floor mats for the front and rear, but we wound up buying the WeatherTech ones because they were high-sided and did a better job protecting from the inevitable winter salt stains and slush.

Whoa, blast from the past. I was totally not expecting to see La guerre des tuques appear in this slideshow. We watched that in elementary school, maybe grade 7 or 8, after reading the book. I don’t think half of us had even finished the book or understood French well enough at that point, so a lot of us were not

Like another said, that’s more a technical issue. Via Rail is at least moving ahead lately with newer trains and more dedicated tracks between Toronto and Quebec City, though that plan seems to rely on bypassing a lot of their current route (going north via Peterborough rather than through Oshawa and along the lake

Europe is small in relation to the area covered in the US. I could not see this happening in the US (or in Canada).

And tomorrow in history: Yuri Gagarin becomes the first person to go to space.

Provided the vehicle cost were comparable to the ICE, PHEV or BEV alternative, and there were a hydrogen refuelling station 5-10 minutes from my home? Sure, why not?

1987 was a decent year for gloriously boxy cars, nearing the tail end of the Golden Age of Pop-up Headlights, and the first year these beauties rolled off the line:

I’d imagine we might have seen our first Dutch, or third Aussie, F1 champion. Maybe?

I don’t think that’s likely to happen because of the chance it might prove it was “mostly the car.” We already kinda saw that a little bit when Russell got to drive Lewis’ car.  I think he could make a few teams do better, no doubt, but not not substantially so.

If he wins a record 8th championship, I think there’s a good chance Lewis retires on top. Maybe he comes back in a few years to scratch that racing itch, like Schumi did.

And her turn signal actually worked on a BMW?

Leafs fans are just delusional, and the local/national sports media - run by two companies that together own the Maple Leafs and have a vested interest in constantly beating their drum - hypes them and discusses them ad nauseum.

If you’ve never interacted with a Yankees fan, consider yourself blessed and highly favored. There is no other fandom on earth as aggressive, as obnoxious, as full of assholes as the Yankees fandom.

PS. Give me pointless stars lol

Also just as a frame of reference from a Torontonian, anyone in the GTA ( greater Toronto area ) can drive up to Drake’s house very easily and quickly on a psychotic whim.

Same, I wonder how his live-in Cabana Boy/adopted son” feels about this?

Wipeout was good fun, but you know what other old racing game from my youth requires a long-overdue reincarnation? Jet Moto.

Classic Tory sleaze.
