It says something — I really don’t know what — that the comments here have an order of magnitude more trolls than at Jezebel.

And he offended them...by saying something they think should be offensive to Black people.
The NBA pays players millions of dollars, but they also steal millions of dollars from them through salary caps.
It’s important to remember that it’s still a goddamn racket (Lebron’s salary should be on the order of $200 million a year, cities should never pay for stadiums, shit like this story), but the NBA is definitely miles ahead of its competition. The fact that it has a younger, less-white, more-liberal audience than the…
Man, if you don’t want to vigorously cuddle Demarcus Cousins then I don’t know if you’re even a mammal.
Free speech is important, but white people not ever having to think about race is crucial.
I don’t have any idea who a plausibly-available improvement from Rubio would be. Jeff Teague, I guess? Jrue Holiday? But they’re still going to cost a lot to get, basically, +5% three-point shooting.
Would you believe that Greg Monroe has had a positive defensive-BPM every season o his career? I would not, and yet it is true!
I think most of the major outlets have all but gutted their foreign offices. I believe NPR’s are still good and that’s about it?
Rubio’s effective FG% is actually higher than Kidd’s was at 26 and he’s way better at getting to the line (better than Butler or Harden last season; upper quartile this season), but Kidd was consistently a (somewhat) better 3-point shooter. Kidd also averaged about one more assist per game and a higher offensive +/-,…
It’s totally bizarre, because he’s shooting 87% from the line (18th in the league). It’s also not just his jumper keeping his FG% down — he’s abysmal finishing at the rim, which is pretty weird for a big point guard with long arms and a great handle.
With Brogdon there? He’s shaping up to be a beast pretty soon, with what I suspect is a much higher ceiling than Rubio’s. I mean, all things being equal, it would be cool to have Rubio too, but I don’t think he’d be worth sacrificing much at this point.
Being super concerned about a Black dude being too arrogant and aggressive isn’t exactly a mark of SJWdom.
Gosh, what do KBrad and John Wall have in common that might lead the these reactions?
I’m not sure holding up hockey’s traditions of sportsmanship is really a winning play here.
The US media’s apparent indifference to all of the many current backsliding democracies is equal parts baffling, terrifying and infuriating. Especially when Trump is hiring people who’ve worked on that backsliding, this stuff isn’t academic.
The continuing influence of the FGC’s arcade history is one of the best things about it. Long term toxicity is really limited when you expect to regularly see the people you deal with in person.
Slow moves towards a less-racist welfare state, rapid leaps towards ethno-nationalist kleptocracy, what’s even the difference?
I guess we can think of it as a side bet — they’d implicitly agreed beforehand that the winner would get to pop off and the loser would have to take it. They signed up for this.
1. This isn’t an e-sports thing, this is a fighting games thing. It long predates the notion of large-scale, professionalized gaming leagues.
