The app is suspended. This means that it is cached in RAM, and therefore not using any of your resources apart from RAM. If you decide that you need the RAM the app is using, the system will automatically free up this RAM by either dumping it to the disk, or just getting rid of it.

What do you mean by can't trust performance? Most new (not sure about sense) gingerbread overlays include GPU acceleration in the UI and browser and will be faster.

That isn't my point, my point is that Microsoft seems to be ignoring Android. No official Bing app, no photosynth, no windows live messenger and now no official Skydrive app. They may think Android is crap (which it is not) but they can't ignore the dominant smartphone OS when they have bloody J2ME apps for dumbphones.

Trust me, the dual-core androids do just fine competing with the iPhone 5, as long as the manufacturer spends some considerable effort with optimizing the OS. I am guessing this is going to change with ICS, which is pretty damn smooth even when I underclock my phone to 500mHz. Believe it or not, android is catching up.

Android is sweet things in alphabetical order, so there are 10 more releases to go until we come to S (the current version being I for Ice Cream Sandwich.
