Often times I find that the kitchen staff is to blame and the waiter cant help it, or they are busting their ass because somebody called off and they have more people to take care of than usual. Because sucky service is not always the servers fault. Was your server friendly? Did they smile and apologize for any wait? Tip them. Was the food terrible? That's the kitchen's fault, not your server. Was the server rude or short with you? Then you can tip nothing and not feel like a total heel.
