I’m surprised it wasn’t in the review because it was the most glaring Men vs Woman conversation in the episode. If Monica, or even her mom, had just acted like a man (or a non good girl) they could have left 12 hours ago. She just needed to swear confidently like the lawyer did and everyone panicked.

You seem to have very strong feelings about perjury. Can’t say I share them in a perjury trap situation where a person is asked about an affair. Yeah they shouldn’t lie, but it’s easy to see why ppl do on that subject, and thus why it makes for an ideal perjury trap.

Are we not going to talk about Bill Ginsburg screaming obscenities to the FBI over the phone?

No True Scotsman fallacy. The Handmaid’s Tale (book) isn’t about marginalized groups; it’s about women.

I like to point out to people that The Coca Cola Company would gladly stop selling Coke products in America if China gave them exclusive rights to the Chinese market.

How about the version of the episode that you guys apparently saw and referenced in your review last week, where Mickey was with Randy as he garroted Pooh, and actively encouraging him?   Where can we see that?

The American way.

I don’t know why, but it REALLY annoys me that the episodes are only 40-45 mins.  So I appreciate your digs at that too. :)

  • Nicole Kidman’s accent really gets wonky when she gets all fired up.

The rare comment that was worth posting twice, Zod.

Really not happy with the way Carlson is being paraded around as some hero despite her willingness to shill Fox’s bullshit for years. Obviously she didn’t deserve the treatment she got from Ailes, but it’ll be interesting if the miniseries’ portrayal of her has any more nuance. I tend to doubt it, though.

Meanwhile, assholes and bullies tend to attach themselves to causes as a way to justify their desire to be shitty to other people.

Yeah, but this completely fair and correct thing has to be willfully misinterpreted every fucking week, because otherwise, how will the exact type of people being mocked assuage their egos?

I’m so tired of seeing this pointlessly reductive description of the show’s ethos. It’s never actually been “people who care about things are dumb”, it’s more of “some people will pretend to care about fashionable causes purely for the sake of their image/ their own ego, rather than out of any genuine altruism”. Which

He doesn’t, though. The whole point of Donohue’s bullshit message is to cast shade on homosexuals and deflect blame off the “good hetero priests” of the Catholic Church. He’s a miserable scum-fuck through & through.

Let it be known the Catholic Church thinks pedophilia is slightly worse than homosexuality. What a brave institution.

Comment sections are where the virtues of liberalism go to die, I guess. Once you’re branded an enemy to some people, it doesn’t matter if you’re Left Wing, Right Wing, Broken Wing, you’re not a human being to them anymore. Assholes fall all across the political spectrum.

She’s in Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces too. I wouldn’t say she carried either, but still.

Problematic isn't bad and there is nothing wrong with rape fantasy, so long as it remains so. The current trendy dogma which rails against these things is simply puritanical authoritarian moralizing with a fresh coat of paint.

It is a little embarrassing, mostly because none of the shit I used to be into holds up. I re-read some of my old shonen ai mangas recently, and most of what I used to find romantic is very problematic to adult me. Physical abuse, emotional blackmail, and the old "character says no repeatedly but is secretly enjoying
