If something does not normally happen given a set of circumstances, it is not unreasonable to assume that it will continue to not happen unless there is another factor or something about the situation is different. With modern safety equipment and airbags, a 40 mph, total, collision may kill someone but it is unlikely that both or all parties to an accident would die if they were wearing seatbelts. We also don't know if this was a complete and direct head on collision, or an offset head on collision.

There are some people I see in older luxury cars that I look at and think that, but they're generally trying to look like a baller and won't have the money to fix the car when or if something major goes wrong, much less provide proper upkeep.
