I've actually got a book on the making of Stallone's Dredd. It's kind of amazing to see the insane amount of detail that went into adapting the comics' world into a relatively faithful film version.

Coulton obtained a license and composed a totally new arrangement (plus added original lyrics) that were straight up copied in Glee. Glee apparently received permission from Sir Mix-a-Lot for the original lyrics, according to the other articles on the web, but didn't consult Coulton for his additional lyrics or melody.
