I think it makes a big difference. I go out of my way to be helpful to people wherever possible and what's amazing is that I see those people continue on down the street, smiling, and often helping the next person they see struggling. It may be naive and overly optimistic but I hope that whatever small effect I have

I always try to do the little kindnesses, too. It really does make me feel better about the world, even if I'm really cranky otherwise. A hilarious-but-sweet story: I was once walking back to my old house from the bus stop after a follow-up appointment for a minor surgery. It was pretty chilly out, and there was still

One of the few habits I've been able to maintain in my life is trying to do as many of those little things a day as I can. I'd like to think it has some big chain-effect of goodness, but I really don't know. What I do know is that every time I do something nice for a stranger, I feel a little bit better about where

While we're at it, can we PLEASE get rid of the idea that nothing done by women can be misogynist? "Well, the thing you find offensive towards women was written by a woman so...case closed." It's infuriating.

I'm always caught off guard by how many commenters are like "OMG I'm never going to have a baby after reading this!" ... I mean, I think you either get to a place where you want kids or you don't and if you do then your boobs or weight or whatever don't really factor into that decision.

I'm glad your mom will still be with us — even if her mammaries are not.

So so true. And high on the list of things no one tells you about the Beauty and Wonder of Breast-feeding.

Ugh, my mom is having a double mastectomy next week and will leave the hospital with 5 drains. HER boobs are going somewhere. Count your blessings ladies, because this shit is hard.

bitch you better drive fast I'm taking a plane. *fans self*

ETA: Seriously. Someone, hose me down.

Can someone please point me to the forms I need to fill out in order to take both of them home with me?

1) Save baby fox. 2.) Love it so much you want to keep it. 3.) Be like, "Nah bro, it's better to be in a preserve. It's not right to lock up a wild animal."

Time out:

I love her honesty and I wish more women would be forthcoming about the difficulties of marriage. I have too many friends who are still holding out for the fairytale and sabotage their relationships when they don't get it. I love my husband and I'm thankful for our partnership but shit is hard work and I'm not going

Everyone needs beauty in their lives when they are feeling depleted, so yes, the badass needs flowers after a big show!

"It’s my very unsophisticated way of taking the power back. I’ve always had an issue with [the idea that]: 'OK, we’ve both decided to do this. Why am I a slut and you’re the player? You didn’t get anything from me that I didn’t get from you.'"

This is why I always ask myself if my decisions could potentially land me in a L&O:SVU ep before I make them.

Nopenopenopenopenopenopenopenope. Good night.

A dog requires considerably more time and energy than a cat does. I like that my (shelter) cat has dog like qualities, but I also like that he doesn't require as much attention as a dog. I personally would never spend money on a cat— there are too many of them in the shelters that need homes that it just seems

My rule for pets has always been that if it weighs more than 5 pounds and has a prey drive, it had better have been domesticated for a couple millennia.
