It helps that TSA (sometimes) makes sure no one has a gun or a knife bigger than the one the crew has in their safety kits. That tends to make things a bit more manageable.

Would seem like a standard thing to have for any makeshift repairs to equipment (and there’s plenty of non-flight-critical equipment on a plane) during a flight. There’s probably a collection of “stuff” to have for any in flight maintenance.

This sucks for the flight attendants. Flight attendants only get paid if they fly.
