Digging into the memory banks....Glock ran a whole season in ChampCar (after a short stint w Jordan, then went back). Jan Magnussen was a Penske sub for a while. Stefan Johansson came over. Danny Sullivan ran F1 first. Digging deep: Andrea Montermini, Christian Danner, Robert Guerrero, JJ Lehto, and Vincenzo Sospiri!

I

Yup. There’s always been that sort of “F1 rejects” kind of feel to coming over...much of it media created. The drivers that did come, seemed to like it and usually were pretty good. Blundell is a perfect example...he regularly talks about how much fun he had in CART. He had some podiums in F1, so it’s not like he was

yah, I always set him aside since that was such an oddball move. A total powerplay and unlikely to ever happen again. Had American open wheel not been in total shambles, there’s a chance Kimi may have tried it....most likely an anomaly.

The tone of this site is baffling.  F1 guys coming to CART/ChampCar/Indy has been going on since the early 80s at least (hell, maybe even in the 70s, but not as common). Dudes like Roberto Moreno and Teo Fabi. Or Fittipaldi (Emmo & Cristian), Mauricio Gugelim, Zanardi, and Mark Blundell. Eddie Cheever and Max Papis

I guess it depends on how much you like body cladding and the different grill.

The Vibe GT had the XRS engine too.

For sure. I can certainly see some of the younger workers being up with the lingo (and almost take the custom order as a fun diversion), but most workers are understandably not going to know and/or be annoyed. Definitely approach a special request with a please & thank you!

Chai Tea (looking at you, Starbucks).  Chai is the Hindi word for “tea” (with roots back to various Chinese pronunciations).

And also be prepared to explain the details you want.  There’s no way most of these are gonna be clear to your average worker (e.g., the Taco Bell one...just explain it without the goofy name)

Yah, I think that puts the Si in a tough spot.  Stay above the Civic Sport, stay below the Integra and CTR of course.  It’s an interesting tweener model.  In theory, it’s generally parts bin stuff, so it shouldn’t be too hard for Honda to justify keeping it around.

Still bummed they didn’t make that cool retro/surf Scion xB from SEMA.  That thing looked really cool.  And it wasn’t too far from production if you kill the pop-up roof (which I understand is a huge cool feature, just saying).

Even when it was PPG in the 90s, they still hit Australia. Without FedEx CART/ChampCar did hit Germany and UK in addition to Australia. Japan (Motegi) I think mostly lost due to Honda’s shenanigans.

Another reminder Tony George really F’d things up for open wheel racing.

Agree. Doug Yule is awesome and it’s a shame he not only wasn’t invited to participate in 93 but also snubbed by the Rock Hall of Fame.

He was in a band called American Flyer post-Velvets. It’s very mid 70s mellow rock (I guess yacht rock now), but still really good. George Martin produced their first record. It’s on

That clip always makes me smile.  I’m like 99% sure it was actually linked to from Lou Reed’s website like 10 yrs ago.  They had a bunch of clips of Lou, VU, and covers.  If looking for a not-funny but still awesome clip, check out The Black Crowes covering Oh! Sweet Nothin.  It’s great (and made the cut on Lou’s

Hey...now that’s a sentence.

Agree.  I’m thinking about either finding an IMAX screen or going the other direction and hitting up a weird late-night during the week showtime.  Since I’ve already seen it, I’ll just sort of chill and if I nod off for a bit in those comfy recliners, no biggie :)

yah come on. This was just bone headed. The SE-R was really great for pretty much the whole 90s (and made Car and Driver 10 best for 5 years). Even the early 00s SE-R and SE-R spec V were fine and not just sticker packages.
The most recent SE-R was an abomination...that’s the one to pick on.  Not the real one with a

This was very light on Tomorrow Never Dies, which I put as the best Brosnan outing and probably a top 5 of all Bond movies for me. It’s got a reasonably grounded plot, Michelle Yeoh kicks ass, it moves at a brisk pace and it’s got a good run time (I think maybe shortest or second shortest in whole series). It makes

I’m not sure how much they’re starting from scratch vs buying it from Honda as they exit.... just speculation

yah, sugar water is good business!
