TL;DR Version: Better hardware now, its standard and DEVs know that so now games will use that hardware more, and will use it more effectively. The only thing holding back the newer Kinect will be the software, which will improve over time.

There were only student projects sorry if that was kind of misleading. They are not published anywhere to my knowledge other than when I submit them for jobs :). It is just about 16 months of actual working experience that's all I meant by it.
