Is this also related to DSLR strobing where half of a frame reads but the other half will be completely white? As in how the sensors are firing off in rows?
The artifact that the burn leaves isn't a single point, its lateral to the edge of the image and appears to burn out a row of sensor perpendicular to each other. So a single sensor doesn't make sense to me.
Anyone have any practical understanding as to what occurred in the process of the sensor being damaged, as in a physical explanation as to what occurred?
