@Battles: I agree. Something about a Benz with patina makes me fell warm inside.

@Plasma X: Too late for today's COTD, so I nominate this for tomorrow.

The AMX, without all the fender weirdness and fussiness around the C-pillar, is one of my all-time favorites. Crisp, purposeful, beautifully proportioned.

@pauljones: Wow, that whole existential thing had me thinking about "A Beautiful Mind." Anyway, see you on Saturdays, which is mostly when I check in nowadays.

@vavon205: It's just a shorthand way of referring to this kind of car-truck. The El Camino was arguably the more successful, but a Ford would a '-chero,' referring to the Ford version of this, the Ranchero.

Just too busy from all angles. Why can't one clean design ever evolve into another clean design?

Look at that thing, sitting like a caged animal. Everybody stay behind the tape, please.

I fondly remember the deer crossing signs in our area many years back, each receiving a round, red sticker at the tip of the critter's snout.

I saw one just like this a couple of years ago in Manitou Springs, Colo. Well, just like it except for being intact and all.

It looks like one of those spliced Google Street View images. In the best way.

I learned to drive in my Dad's '79 sedan. The only option on it was the slushbox. But even in such humble trim, it handled nicely.

Yeah, it's like a mutant Saab. And that black whatever-it-is around the beltline—is that factory?

@vavon205: I never knew this existed. Like a 2002 grafted to some early '70s Japanese econo-coupe. I feel dizzy.

I still get to see one of these now and then...there's a shop that specializes in German iron not far from my office. They also get the occasional Rolls. Yes, it's a very rich town.

@87CapriceEstate: I hear ya about the yellowed lights. Several years back, I had to replace a headlight on my '97 Caravan. I went to the pick & pull, found a match, but passed on it because it looked so awful. Sprung for a new light, and when I put it on, it looked ridiculous. The junkyard piece would have been a
