This helps to ease the pain of the crusher-bound Roadmaster that Murilee posted over the weekend.

Tough, tough call. I've seen many unkind things written about these. But apart from the G8 GXP, it's about the coolest thing Pontiac was making when they pulled the plug, so the collectibility factor is there. Nice price by a hair.

Somebody along my drive to work has TWO of these. Hoarding has begun. But then, somebody else near my office has two Allantes. Something weird is going on here.

There's a Volvo specialist I drive by pretty regularly, but do I ever get to see one of these? Of course not. Just brick upon brick...

We need another option: Yes, but who cares, it's no-nonsense functional.

Google 'Dave Barry' and 'Can New York Save Itself?' Read the funniest piece about New York ever, including a passage about New York taxis. 20+ years old, but timeless.

So far, my '07 Pilot—pushing 85K and bulletproof.

We also have TOTD (Typo of the Day). Steve Stevens plays an electric car?

@jeremyjadams: I saw a Catera at the local A&P last year. In hindsight, it was almost—almost—as reprehensible as the Cimarron. But for the badging, I would have been hard pressed to tell it apart from, say, a Corsica.

This was a striking design when new. I remember Motor Trend splashing a sneak preview all over the cover long before the '79s came out—just sketches, but head-turning stuff.

@doctorq: All of a sudden my ankle hurts.

I join those who admire this for the sheer gumption of it. The grown-ups at headquarters must have been off playing polo when it slipped through to production.

Notice how the three vehicles are at safe distances from one another...probably to prevent some sort of rip in space-time.

Disturbingly close to where I live, I'm told the Klan once adopted a stretch of highway. Less formal than the Nazis here, but they were seen out in full regalia, picking up litter on the shoulder.

@stephdumas: Thank you. I have to rent that again one of these days.

We just have to keep reminding ourselves that this generation kept the Mustang name alive.

Very efficient. Why bake only 40 tourists at a clip when you can bake 60?

Ah, John Cleese, making throwaway lines sing for two generations. Check out 'Fawlty Towers' if you've never seen it.

On the right car, this would be so right. This isn't the right car.

I saw one of these at the local A&P on a warm fall day—in this color, but with chrome bumpers. Pristine, obviously a weekend driver. The top was down. It looked so inviting.
