You really need to read Bad Medicine and Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre. There’s a great discussion about this and why you must be very careful.

I have MS and there are several nerve cells in my brain and spinal cord that are misfiring and it causes me extreme pain and dysfunction (at times). I can’t imagine the molten, blazing hell of the firestorm of neurogenic pain of a head transplant. The cruelty and misery of that operation is inconceivable.
