No one should ever do American Pie at karaoke, no matter which lyrics you do. It’s far too long and boring, even with everyone jumping in on the choruses.

Interesting stuff. Comparing Arnold in Pumping Iron with competitive bodybuilders today is like night and day. I didn’t know how explicit that tension was.

Prove it.

They took a risk on a talented player...and cut him when it looked like it wasn’t working out.

you will be judged whether you like it or not

Stop attacking...people who disagree with you.

In 3rd grade football, I was a center playing exactly the league mandated minimum of 3 downs per game. In an early game, I spaced out in the huddle and missed the snap call, was too nervous to ask for it again, and got our team 10 simultaneous false start calls. I never got much better.

But he found time to psychoanalyze me. What priorities! It’s almost as if he never had a point to begin with and was trolling all along. A quick scroll through his other responses support that.

Thanks for confirming that your opinion on whoever is geing avdick is irrelevant. You had a dumb take to start with, and then, when I pointed that out, you resorted to unfounded personal statements. I cannot imagine how more irrelevant your takes on “civil society” can get at this point.

You’re lecturing me about civil discourse on Kinja? I don’t know how your opinion could possibly be less relevant. It’d be more appropriate to do meditation practice through Vine.

Maybe, but maybe not.

slowly change players’ mentalities

This is a grown-ass woman hitting a ball for a living.

I’m looking forward to hearing some moron, in the same breath, bag on kickers as “not real football players” and then bag on Lloyd as being incapable of being a football player and never suffer from cognitive dissonance for a moment.

This. I cannot believe how many video services show ads, but only the same ones over and over. I mean, I grew up with broadcast TV, I’m used to seeing commercials, but the idea that watching with ads has to be an infuriatingly monotonous experience is new and awful.

It is curious how in the USA, the land of the free market and meritocracy, teams can be that bad and still stay in the league with no negative consequences whatsoever.

You can always tell the person with the least relevant opinion by how quickly they reach for logical fallacy terminology. It just screams “I don’t like to engage with ideas, but I do like to nitpick technicalities!”.

There are a few good mascots in those leagues (Colorado Mammoth, Calgary Roughnecks, maybe one or two others) but most are quite bad, and none of them (even the good ones) are remotely outside of the narrow box of [LOCATION] [VAGUELY THREATENING, NOT YET TRADEMARKED MASCOT], and some are embarrassing themselves by

The sad thing is when other more fringe-y sports in the US (ultimate, lacrosse, Aussie football, rugby, etc.) create pro or semi pro leagues, they tend to fall into the same unimaginative trap as this, as though the only way to name a team is [LOCATION] [VAGUELY THREATENING MASCOT NOT ALREADY TAKEN BY A BIG 4 TEAM].
