In Portland it’s usually easier to walk, take the bus or the train. I probably take Uber once a month, when I don’t want to drive and the public transit time is double or more. Cost is another big factor. In downtown, you can pay up to $4/hr to park on the street.

You can get a used 500e with under 20k miles for like 6 grand. The power electronics and 24kWh battery are worth more than that. I want to buy one and strip it for a backup battery on my house.

We had 4 snow storms in Portland this year, when it normally doesn’t snow at all. One of the storms was almost a foot, and the city is not equipped to deal with that. My wife has a CT200h, a car that looks fairly sporty, and was marketed as such. It takes nearly 10s to reach 60 and has the hateful CVT from the Prius. She loves it but I’d rather walk.
