That’s a really nice lamp. My mom used to do stained glass and other soldered-together glass work (like prisms to hang in windows).

I know someone who had her bridesmaids carry lanterns instead of flowers. It was beautiful and they had a lovely keepsake from the wedding that they could actually use.

I decided I could cook again as long as I don’t lift any heavy pots. I’m still on that restriction. Tactical error, though, because I hate cooking. I could have got out of it for a couple more weeks XD.

I miss Pie-Pie’s craft posts too.

Pie-Pie I miss your craft posts :( So I’ll make my own!

Thanks! I found a recipe using melted chocolate chips and I made a pastry bag using a zip lock bag. It was a little messy but I used a butter knife to clean them up and I found a little tube of white white icing to use on the belt. They came out kind cute and my brother went crazy over them.

I was just thinking about getting bangs again, so thanks for the reminder that I’ll hate them.  I just can’t do my hair right or take care of them so they look so dumb.  I’m sure YOURS look better than you think though lol.  We are our own worst critics, always...

My internet is STILL borked.

What has happened to the poster who used to update us on the daughter, Big Foot?

Hi stranger friends! Hope your holidays are going alright, especially those of you with difficult families.

I always give up something I don’t do anyway--like crack cocaine and anonymous sex with pretty young men.

I had rough year so I took myself on vacation for xmas and bought myself jewelry. Only my niece got a present. I also plan to give up nothing in Jan. NOTHING.

... and that’s not even touching on our Medicare for all (aka ‘Medicare’ down here) as opposed to that purchase your insurance through your employer and yet still face huge bills even to attend emergency nonsense they have over there.

I am in my 22nd year of teaching. While raises pay the mortgage, more than anything I would want more support for special education and English Language Learners (our district doesn’t even have an EL department any more and we have a TON of English Learners, we are in SO Cal!). I also really wish there was better and

If you think the amount of work teachers do outside of school hours is overstated here, you don’t know any teachers.

Everything you just said times 10!
In our district the administration was downright corrupt. The teachers were at an all time enthusiasm low and stress high but they were afraid to speak out because the superintendent and her cronies/henchmen retaliated like nobody’s business. This had been going on for years. That and

I’m a teacher. I’ve been a teacher for a long time. My experience is only in an urban setting so I can only speak from that, but here is my two cents:

Allow me to indulge in an unhinged rant:

For men, interactions with women are a zero-sum game. If she wins, he loses. He doesn’t want to be a loser, so in every encounter she has to lose in order to reaffirm his manhood.

It won’t work. Ask JFK, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford**. All of whom were surrounded by people expert in the use of guns, and none who were protected by using those guns.
