I've found these to be great. 3 pages can be a lot in the am, so I usually set a timer for 30 minutes. Sometimes I make three, most often not. But the ritual and the physical activity of writing is kind of meditative.

I've found having an app like Run Keeper helps keep things interesting. It can give you live updates about pace, distance, can hook it up to a heart rate monitor or a playlist. Something about having the stats and constant reminders seems to help get me through the rough or boring spots.
