As a nation, we're much more comfortable with that than with the prospect of black folk getting ideas.

Oh, and just read this:
"Another popular tweet pointed out the whitewashing of Harry Potter. Yes, Harry Potter, that story of the boy wizard who saves England (and the rest of the world). In the first three Harry Potter films, black actresses play the character of Lavender Brown. Her role is very small in those…
Well, to be fair, I don't think she was criticizing social media for bringing it up. I think she was criticizing social media for being a place where people jump to extremely harsh judgement without having enough information to be justified. She's right.
The bigger issue is that we shouldn't get caught up in any serious consideration of the KKK because it just gives the far larger number of people a convenient straw man to deem themselves to have views about race that are all hunky dorry. Tons of people use the KKK as their personal benchmark for unacceptable racism…
Friendly reminder that the US edition of Time Magazine sees its readers as idiots and is terrified of covering any issue of substance:
The world would be such a different place if White people cared about people of color the same way they care about dogs.
Can we take a moment to reflect on how fucked up it is that people care more about animals than other people?
>>Are you sure they're hitting on him, and not just relieved to be able to talk to a man who probably won't hit on them?<<
Yet we still haven't had a post about how white women fuck us minority by voting Republicans at every fucking election.
Eh. I was feeling the same way, actually.
Women have different reasons for not wanting to identify themselves as "feminists."
"I also noticed she was black. I then thought it would be funny to tweet JOKES about that observation"
Usually, when a comedian gets into some shit over a joke that was near or a little over the line, I'm on their side. I want people to push boundaries and sometimes you just miss the mark. It's not as big a deal as some people would like to make it.
General public and media in the US freaked out more about the black woman, i am sure it happened in other countries because anti-blackness is everywhere but most of the outrage was coming from the US.
Another commenter covered this on TheSaladBowl. The black woman who graduated back in the spring got a ton of hate for a photo just like this.
This was a huge thing when Margaret Thatcher died. How do you reconcile WHAT she was (the first female prime minister) with WHO she was (a politician who actively dismantled social programs and effectively forced a large portion of her country needlessly into poverty)?
Democrats are cowards, refused to own up to their great accomplishments and ran away from the President for the past four years.
Thanks white people. You're really showing us what and how you think with the way you vote.
Black and Brown women carry Democrats to victory. I think it's a bitter pill for white feminist bastions like Jezebel to swallow that white women love them some Republicans.
