SO awesome you didn’t give him another chance. You’d probably have a few more stories but hopefully you literally turning around and leaving made him pause for a moment and reflect on what he did.

My family has a spice shop, like, herbs, pepper, paprika - you know, spices. I had my first serious boyfriend in college and met his family and his mom was pretty cold. But the best part of three excruciating hours of trying to win her over came when she asked if the spice shop sold organic spices. Having worked that…
Unless you were like, a wealthy white man of privilege who was also cisgender, heterosexual and Christian. Then I can see how you’d be all nostalgic for “the good old days” cause yeah those were pretty fucking awesome for those people. I mean it still is now, but even more awesome back in the day.
“Judges must not mistake their own views for being either facts not reasonably open to question or as appropriately qualified expert evidence.”
“Does anybody know?”
I feel you. She just didn't need to dress up as a black person to be part of an anti-racism movement. White people can be NAACP members. Girl just displaced an actual black leader.
yeah gotta love the “blaming men for any of my struggles along the way” part. Love that. It really speaks to a deep and thorough understanding of feminism, patriarchy, and the history of women’s oppression.
Is that picture her? Am I alone in thinking this photo looks like someone else?
God Brienne is gorgeous. Love her.
This made me laugh so so hard.
In all seriousness though, this is a great example of white appropriation of black culture, which never fails to piss me off. Let’s take all the fashion of people of color, dress it up, mark it up, and sell it to white people so they can feel “cutting edge” and “urban.” Gag.
It would’ve been better with Taylor Swift.
Somehow it still just feels like a violation of my reproductive rights. Like, on my organ donor card I specify that they can take everything except my eyes, because I have this thing with eyes. (Plus I guess that’s the one part they have a surplus of or something, so I don’t feel bad about it). But should I also…
Jesus. Like I said, super #blessed to have vacation and personal days at my current job. ANd for the first time ever I’m not doing that ironically. I hope your new job is better.
Ha because they don't exist.
I dunno...I do the hiring for the org I work for and when I was a dumb newb and hadn’t unlearned as much of my racism as I have now, I would make assumptions about people’s race based on info like this in their applications. Then I learned better. We have a former professor of African American studies on staff who is…
Like maybe he's racist? Or has a great relationship based on general joking around with the co-worker and its funny and all good?
Right. Because she could wash off her “blackness" if it ever got too rough. But an actual black person? Nothing but some very specific combinations of disease and plastic surgery can change that. It's a tad different.
It might have something to do with the fact that black people saying they're where still don't get to access the vast amount of privilege that white people get.
THANK YOU.
