Ira Glass’s voice is just fine and it’s ridiculous to complain about people’s natural speaking voices.

You’re missing the fucking point. Whether or not you personally think upspeak is annoying is unimportant. (And there is actually reason to think that women are more inclined to use upspeak than men precisely because they are viewed as aggressive, hostile, unattractive, etc. when they use a more declarative tone, and…
It’s really amazing. It’s especially frustrating to consider the fact that This American Life gets constant criticism for the vocal fry that their female contributors exhibit, but IRA GLASS—who has like a textbook example of vocal fry—never gets criticized for it.
Hillary Clinton took the stage last night to make her historic acceptance speech, but male pundits wondered: Didn’t…
I’ll do my part to remedy this by posting one of my favorite images of Hillary. Hillary looks like one bad HBIC in this campaign poster.
Seeing oblivious white men talking about how they’ve been disenfranchised because their fave didn’t win has been ENRAGING.
They are weak tea. The Bernie Bros promised millions of them would converge on Philly to protest the nomination. So far, it’s barely hundreds. I’m pretty sure the pro-union and BLM protests are bigger.
I’m so proud - of you, of her, of us - of the country. My grandmother had five daughters by my grandfather. He was Catholic, so refused to wear condoms. She was pregnant 15 times. He wanted a son. He beat her, and her daughters, whenever he felt like it, and the few times it got so bad that a neighbour or daughter…
If he’s smart, he won’t. She’s a really gifted debater.
Wanting to share that I have been a Bernie supporter, but I am so very proud to be voting for, and supporting Hillary Clinton. I did tear up at the end of the roll call, because I was proud that Sanders did the right thing and pledged his support to Clinton.
I’m so excited to see her debate Trump. It’s going to be like when you watch an NBA player against some middle schooler at his basketball camp. That said, I’m terrified there will be a lot of folks who think the middle schooler actually won.
Fuck yes. Onward to November, the general, and the White House.
I’ve been in the tank for Hillary this whole election cycle, and very not-for-Bernie, and this is absolutely a pivotal moment in American politics, especially when we get Hillary elected.
Bernie achieved a lot. He didn’t win and that sucks for those like myself who voted for him but to cry like it was all for naught is to diminish the impact he had. Time to move forward.
Women and minorities have been dutifully pulling the lever for white men for decades (when they were allowed to at all) and you never heard from them even a fraction of the hysterics that Sanders supporters have been displaying during the DNC because they didn’t get their #1 choice.
Sometimes an ace is a 1. I'd go with a Queen.
I’m not crying you’re crying!
So MUCH LOVE!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS is the America I know and LOVE!!!!!!! Thank you Democratic delegates!!!!!
Congratulations. I’ve been a big Hillary detractor but when glorious Michelle pointed out that we (I’m in my 20s) pointed out that we take for granted a woman could become president the history of it hit me
