Oooooooooooh I love giving UK travel advice!!

Where is Jim Carrey from because I only found out he was Canadian like a month ago, I always just thought that he was American...

I'm really glad you had a different experience to the Canadian's I met there. We were also shown round the city by a man in his late fifties who spent a lot of time talking about America negatively, so perhaps I was just unlucky in the stories I heard.

Yeah I'm afraid you all sound very similar to me! And to the average Cuban I'd imagine.

It was more the historical context and closeness of accent I was thinking of, rather than the Canadian reputation.

I am British, so I didn't have to. But honestly I wasn't impressed with a lot of Canadians there anyway, several of whom demanded to know why they couldn't get a Coca Cola at the hotel.

Some Canadians we spoke to there got accused of being American and kicked out of a bar :/ I'm glad your experience was positive, but the older generations of Cubans definitely still hold a lot of resentment. You're absolutely correct that they are friendly, something I did point out.

As discussed with Fabiola, Irish is definitely an exception I should have made as discrimination continued until the 1990s. I'm British, so discussing US discrimination isn't where I'm going with this. But yeah, I am talking about today, and about the people who claim that jokes about Dutch accents or French rudeness

I went to Cuba a few years ago (British). I can't comment on legalities as things have obviously changed and they're a lot more welcoming to Brits than Americans, but I do have some tips.

Oh Irish is definitely an exception I should have mentioned. Definitely not as bad today, but my Irish grandfather somehow managed to hide his accent to get a job in a steelworks near Peterborough. I think there are definitely regional tensions within the UK to, regarding the Scots and Welsh to an extent. But I don't

Eh, I give serious side eye to my fellow western Europeans if they claim they are being discriminated against. They are not persecuted, they do not have a history of being oppressed by a larger group. I think Eastern Europeans can claim racial discrimination, especially if they have migrated to countries like the UK

Sorry, I love Trevor Noah and I do think that the backlash was overblown, but this is ridiculously hypocritical. People aren’t idiotic for finding those jokes offensive, and to see that from this site, which loves discussing offensive things, is disappointing.

Definitely Dublin, and also consider Belfast - not quite the same tourist destination as there are still tensions there, but I had an amazing time on a Game of Thrones tour which took me to amazing places I wouldn't have previously considered. Also, you can't beat the Giant's Causeway. Oooh, and there was a ghost

Yes, that's probably true, but let's be real that's what most people will do. I think it's terrible, but that's why he's made the joke. There will be people who genuinely think they look alike.

A lot of people will group them together though. I don't, but probably because I was lucky enough to grow up in a culturally diverse area. A lot of white people would struggle.

There is academic evidence that people struggle to distinguish between individuals of other ethnicities, but apart from their hairstyles, no, they are not similar.

I was pretty proud of her!

My sister sent me a text on April Fools day pretending to be Nev trying to get in contact with me. Even though I'm not catfishing anyone and not at all pretty enough to have my photos stolen by a catfisher, not gonna lie, a tiny part of me started panicking and feeling sick.

That's exactly why I liked her from the start too. Let's be real, that's how most of us would have reacted as young teens.

Yup, and I found it entertaining to read.
