@HoneyLush: Again, I'm not defending their actions, but rape is almost all about power. They feel like they just lost their power, and they are taking it out on the only people that have less power than they do. These young boys and women are scapegoats to a group of people that feel that they have no hope.

It isn't really that surprising that a group of people who feel that they have lost their power through this election are attempting to reclaim it with rape and violence on opposing ethnic group. (Not an excuse for their actions, just an explanation.)

That article really illustrates why change of attitude/behavior is so difficult when moving to the US, Europe and Canada. There is truly such a strong disbelief that this is not seen as normal.

@bessmarvingirldetective: There is a difference between knowing/having met someone who is black and a black friend.

@the historian: I don't call you naive. I think you're right. My dad is a life-long Republican, and if the Republican nominee is anyone other than McCain— he would vote for Obama (if he is the nominee, anyway).

@brendastarlet: Fortunately, those are the people that typically don't vote.

It is so much easier to just call them all evil, lock them up, and throw away the key.

@mocena: No. I said that the reason people criticize him is because he lives in a mansion, but is constantly talking about the poor. I was simply pointing out that there is a difference between Republicans (who don't care about the poor) living in a mansion and a Democrat living in a mansion.

@mocena: The difference is that Republicans don't even pretend to care about poor people. When your whole campaign platform is "two Americas" and being a voice for the poor— but you go home to a mansion— that seems pretty hypocritical.

@Pinkosaurus: I don't think that Moe was saying that this undecided voter was choosing a candidate based on either of those things. She just said that she isn't using Hillary's babysitters because she doesn't know them. And she is trying to decide between Obama and Edwards (I think the "pretty" comment was Moe's.)

I think that the media attention makes Iowa look MORE like a hick state. They keep showing these small town coffee shops filled with farmers and old people.

@ArmCandy: I think the whole point to the rules was that you don't pick apart the way a woman looks— the parts she really doesn't have control over. The rule is not meant to limit you from making fun of said person's choices— clothes, makeup, actions.

@hellonos: I think that having a common name can be a blessing. You have to have more of a sense of individuality in your personality to set you apart from the other 5 Amanda's in your class (in my case). That isn't a bad thing...

I think that I am the only woman in the US that does not like SATC. I watched a total of two episodes, felt the impending head explosion, and stopped forever.

@gluecake: I think that could be used for the Real Dolls too.

Oh, and why is everyone rushing to say, "I was totally friends with her. For real..." It doesn't make anyone seem more endearing. I don't understand what it is meant to accomplish.

Hey, she's wearing Lauren Conrad's dress. See, it just doesn't look good on anyone.

Wow, look at the eyebrows on that kid...

Is it more or less ironic to wear those sunglasses if you were around the first time they were "cool"?
