I used to do kind of the same thing. Either sleep with my mother til I was a pre-teen or sleep at her locked door when she had a man over. But I know what was happening to me during the day (and sometimes at night) that made me feel so unsafe, so it wouldn’t seem terribly unusual. But that is another story.
