That’s great news - already this place feels like it can breathe a bit more. I’m one of the weirdoes who’ll actually miss kinja - I fucking love the format, as it’s the easiest-to-read comment system on the web I’ve come across.

Oh, god yeah. And, look, I can sorta understand the benefit of Jez having paid comments - because it’s a great way of preventing chuds - but also...$96 a fucking year? No. That’s a streaming service subscription for me.

While we haven’t announced anything just yet, we’re still in the process of transferring stuff over. Hopefully, fingers crossed, we’ll have some news about the commenting system soon. It’s all above my pay grade, but expect some major changes in the coming weeks/months.

I hope so. The comments on Jezebel are pretty much non-existent because of the subscription requirement. They relaunched Splinter the other week with the same model, same thing. And even though they’re both owned by Paste, it looks like the subscriptions are separate, subscribing to Jezebel doesn’t subscribe you to…

GMG was renamed G/O Media when it was acquired by some shady financial firm, and as of a week or so ago they sold AV Club to Paste Magazine.
