Agree! Those who’ve never worked on a large engineering project cannot fathom the complexity and near impossibility of it “going smoothly.” We’ve also lost our tolerance for failure. I think you probably spend at least 5x as much engineering something to death to try and prevent every failure as you do just building…
Perhaps “watertight” wasn’t included in the spec sheet.

It isn’t the backing up that’s the problem, it’s a lack of awareness. During driving. Nobody has a backup camera on when a motorcycle comes up from a rear corner and they end up almost hitting the bike out of obliviousness.
There is no replacement for actually being able to see around the vehicle you’re driving.
