Just found this (great article!). Yeah, I love Greg Kot. He's a nice guy, and legit down to support artists, but I think he's mis-remembering a bit here. These two bands actually formed around the same time. Screeching Weasel did get a record out first, but early Screeching Weasel doesn't sound anything like the later…
