I was trying to work out if von Sydow's character was supposed to be someone we know.

It just stuck me that the "who are you?" "I'm no one" dialog from the trailer wasn't in the movie! Did I fall asleep? Going to see it again later today and again tomorrow so I'll keep an ear open for it.
One of the people I saw the movie with said he was disappointed by "Darth Gollum"
And you can see he knows he's in over his head but feels like he can't back out now.
Yeah, I hope we get to see that in a movie rather than in some sloppily written novel.
Yeah, everyone was very good. She was awesome.
Yes, because he knows Snoke is going to fuck him over. He was hoping Rey would come with him.
I was surprised by how well it worked when he took the mask off. He sold the vulnerability and damaged boy thing well enough. Like this is a kid who would be shooting up his high school if he didn't have a fascist army to join. What surprised me was how close they dared take it to Anakin in the prequels given how much…
The thing I most liked is that Ridley and Boyega were both really good. I am fucking first in line for an adventures of Rey and Chewie in the Falcon movie.
Literally the only thing that surprised me was that Rey and Kylo Ren weren't revealed to be siblings. And even that isn't off the table for the sequels.
I liked it. Frequently a lot. But I definitely stopped short of loving it.
While you're right I think the prequels are no longer canon.
I never got Holden in the book. For some reason I pictured him much older because in the early chapters he's painted as kind of world-weary. The fact that he's actually supposed to be young and full of potential just not interested in living up to it makes a lot more sense given his behavior through the story is kind…
I read the first book and my verdict on it was "well that might make a good TV show". Hopefully that's what we're getting.
With Carrie Brownstein (channeling Lance) as Han Solo
Lando is married to General Leia. Han is her sketchy ex who is behind on his child support payments because he's still trying to relive his youth hanging around seedy bars with Chewbacca and trying to hit on drunk Twi'Lek chicks.
One of the best shows.
The Star Wars franchise is now an emancipated minor
Given that the despecialized editions have been created by fans cobbling together 35mm, 70mm, upscaled laserdiscs and who know what and are perfectly watchable I'm pretty sure if Disney decides to do a blu-ray of the un-fucked-with OT they can.
Now that scene even more than Greedo shooting first is the worst thing about the special editions. I get that Ford is kinda watchable in there and it makes for a nice deleted scene but it makes zero fucking sense reintroduced into the movie given how Jabba was redesigned for Jedi. He literally doesn't physically fit…
