But, I'm one of those people who spends an inordinate amount of time reading fanfics and shipping couples, and this show is just bad. It's like one of those 300,000 word fanfics that the author can't be persuaded to wrap up.

This show is ridiculous. I started watching it wanting to like it, but…seriously. Can someone explain the appeal to me?
Edit : I'm not saying it's ridiculous because of the same sex thing. Just realized that could be inferred…

WTF then what are you going on about?

You're the one assigning importance to it by making the distinction.

I'm not sure what your point is in making the differentiation when the President is also the Commander in Chief.

If that's the last president that you believe demonstrated good decision making regarding the military, then it would seem to go against your argument that having military experience makes a person qualified to be president. I suppose it is a tad irresponsible, but as I recall (and it has been some time since I read the book), it seemed like the most critical mistake was that Fischer and Hall allowed their clients to climb well beyond the time that they should have turned around and began to descend.

Given that the frozen corpses of previous climbers have become landmarks on the mountain, yeah. I don't get how you can walk past something like that and still want to head to the top.

I believe he was killed in an avalanche. Also, didn't he write a whole book defending his actions in response to Krakauer?

SPOILERS for those of you who think movies based on real events warrant them :
