Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of hot girls that like video games and like to wear their fandom with pride. Besides not being permanent, it's not much different from a guy showing off his video game related tattoos.

Yeah, there are certain games that work pretty well on touch screens, like turn-based tactical RPGs, Sims, many casual games, tower defense, parlor games, etc. Then there are games that work best with physical tactile controls like FPS, action, fighting, and racing games, etc.

The Vita is one out four major handhelds in the market. The price is equivalent to the PSP when it first launched. Kids aren't usually the early adopters of handhelds.

I've seen a few kids with smartphones too. I just don't think it'll be a big enough trend to kill the usefulness of the handheld. I may be way off, but it's something we'll have to see a few years down the road.

Cheap tablets and iPod Touch-like devices seem like bigger threats to handhelds than smartphones. They usually don't have to be subsidized by money-hungry telecoms.

I must be out of touch with mobile providers nowadays. I thought most smartphones had mandatory data plans. If so, that's one expensive emergency phone.

It'll take more than just some. What's a 7-year old going to do with a voice and overpriced data plan? (spoiled rich kids excluded) I'm confident that most parents are more comfortable buying their kids handhelds over smartphones.

They'll never outlive their usefulness as long as there are kids in this world, unless giving smartphones to them sounds like a good idea.

PS3 gamers aren't giving 360 gamers anything. The game comes out one day earlier on the PS3. The difference in price is explained above. OMG someone's going to have to skip on a cup of coffee to buy the game on the PS3.

That was all Sony's part of auditing and fixing the breach by completely overhauling their security systems. It was overly cautious but in the end there weren't horror stories like we're reading here. They did the right thing.

Some Indians have perfected the hiding of their own accents and sounding like Americans. They actually work very hard at that.
