Bernie Sanders, from what I’ve seen and heard from him, is not up for doing away with capitalism and replacing it with socialism, that’s why he qualifies it with ‘democratic’. He wants more of a Scandinavian style mix of capitalism and socialism (and I’m with him).

We’ll have to agree to disagree. The idea that socialism is automatically bad is pervasive and shuts down the mind of some to even listen to the ideas.

We might not be turned off by the word, but we aren’t enough. I think a rebranding is in order.

Maybe we need to come up with a better non-scary word for “democratic socialism”... it’s really still mostly capitalism mixed with some aspects of socialism where health care, education, social security are concerned.
