I agree with you, but I have encountered plenty of people who don’t consider it meat, typically older folks. In my family I’m known as a “vegetarian” even though I eat fish and they know I eat fish.

It’s actually because a lot of meat eaters don’t consider fish to be meat, so it’s easier to just say you’re a vegetarian even if you eat fish. It’s just a word.
