Marriage is a human construct, hammered into people from day one and not normal, it’s only culturally “normal” at this point in time. And it’s on the decline. It’s one way to live, and while for some people it’s great, it isn’t for everyone — look at the divorce rate.

But its not normality. It’s not even close to normality. The planet is still going to be overpopulated for your and my lifetimes even if all Americans stopped having kids tomorrow.

I’m past the potential new dad age now, but I grew up middle class, and I still would never have been able to afford kids. I can barely afford me.
