SOME people want to know. Some people always want to know. That doesn’t mean we’re obliged to satisfy their curiosity.

So you have to reveal your full identity or not be a writer? That’s a bullshit argument.
Yeah, whatever happened to just enjoying a mystery?
I agree. But Julian Assange would disagree with you. As would a lot of other libertarian techbros.
Yeah, HamNo has the media’s interests mixed up with public interest. A journalist who outs a famous pseudonymous author is advancing their career, but it’s arguable whether they’re advancing public discourse.
Hasn’t ‘the author’ been dead since at least the 1950s? Is a piece of art no longer allowed to stand on its own merits?
Shucks :)
Yeah, HamNo has not offered a convincing reason (if any) why revealing Ferrrante’s identity is in the public’s interest. His answer amounts to, “because we can”.
What if the author chose not to link her identity with her writing precisely to avoid that kind of analysis? This insistence that an author’s biography can reveal deep and meaningful truths about their work tends to result in the pigeon-holing artists who are not white men.
Yep. And that article doesn’t even mention Biden’s role in the Anita Hill hearings, which arguably helped get a regressive on to the Supreme Court.
Me too, but sometimes even that doesn’t work. It got to the point that I don’t take any 5 star reviews seriously and focus on the middling reviews (if there are any). And red flags go up if there are nothing but 5 star reviews and 1 and 2 star reviews.
As affable as he is, Biden can be intense and serious when the occasion calls for it. His DNC speech was a real barn-burner, which ended with him yelling, “Yeah! C’mon!” while scowling and pumping his fist. It was awesome.
This talking point needs to die. Joe Biden would be doing about as well as Clinton and possibly worse.
The story is in my brain forever so I use every opportunity to put it in other people’s. It’s like Ringu, but with a profoundly icky piece of gossip instead of a cursed videotape.
It’s about time! Those incentivized reviews were threatening to make product reviews completely useless to customers.
It’s amazingly fucked up. I can totally see the same thing happening with Ivanka and Donald if Ivana had kept her away from her father for most of her life. Good thing Trump doesn’t seem interested in Tiffany!
This reminds me of the infamous story of Bruce McMahan, another wealthy narcissist who actually went through with it and married his biological daughter.
You don’t seem to understand what a loophole is. Of course anyone can take advantage of this rule.
There’s a Clinton ad right there. Just show a bunch of ordinary people talking about how much in income taxes they’ve paid since 1995 between shots of the headlines talking about how Trump has probably paid $0. Then end with a message about voting for a president who wants to contribute to strengthen the economy for…
Lost almost $1 billion during the ‘90s boom...on CASINOS.
