I see quite a few non-U.S. models listed. Is there any hope for impacted Hyundai/Kia owners worldwide?

I’ll contend at least 50% of drivers in DC should really be on a scooter, bicycle or using PT instead. I never really could afford to drive and own cars responsibly, but for 20 years I did it anyway. Now I know I’m happiest on my bike.

oh wow that makes batteries even scarier.

When cities, towns and suburbs are built to get around them almost exclusively by car, people who shouldn’t be driving will end up driving...!

All of this assuming you are an exemplary driver who keeps a spotless traffic record...to the rest of us I’d say try to set a little something aside for tickets, parking offenses, tows and fines too.

It’s not frumpy, it’s disgusted by us plebs...a bit nauseous even

Just taking a moment to appreciate Ford’s commitment to putting Americans in the largest possible vehicle, and to screw everyone outside of a car. smh

Subarus appeal mostly to aliens and alien-human hybrids from planets within the Pleiades star cluster. Not much else left there for anybody else to understand I guess. (It’s in the logo ffs...)

EV fires are at least twice as scary as ICE car fires when you consider batteries must hold 100% of energy to be used by the car, while a gas powered car only holds about 50% of energy (the other 50% is in the air the engine pulls in for combustion). You suffocate fuel to put out a fire relatively easily. Battery

Like you, I used to suffer from car brain. Pure envy is your thing. I bet your blood boils when you see a cyclist zip through gridlocked traffic whilst not having to pay for a car, gas, road taxes, insurance, registration, plates, car maintenance...

The only autonomous vehicles we should be developing are trains/trams/rail based...I bet those can hit and exceed 99.9999999% incident-free miles...

I think the “wants” and the “needs” need to be re-calibrated in general. Nobody needs a 66K Ford Explorer. No salesman knows what you “need”, they know what they can stick you with.

In memory of all the riders we’ve lost, (and despite news like this) I will continue to assert my place at the very middle of the right lane everyday I ride, and fuck whoever is annoyed by that. I fight for better pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, but refuse to wait for car drivers to recognize they’re supposed

Neutral: I’m shunning my car dependent ways lately, so no cars are in my future plans (passes jalop card along). I may try an E-bike soon though.

Looks ready to cruise down a wormhole

Now I feel compelled to experience Las Vegas on my bike...

Seriously, the way everything is designed and built in the U.S. feels as if acres of land cost pennies and the building materials are given away. The sprawl is ridiculous, even within most cities. Went to L.A. expecting a stressful time in one of the more densely populated places in the world, but it never felt

Commented a few days ago on hating to (probably) have to compete against cars for the precious water resource, hoping this ‘eFuel’ stays super expensive so as to never threaten anyone’s access to drinking water.

Um...seeing as how this process requires H20 (water), and is probably the biggest contributor to the liquidness of this wonderful fuel, I don’t think you can make gallons of fuel out of a few drops (or even a quarter gallon) of water. I would still like to double check, but I think the volume of water going in will be

Bought a new car at a dealership once. I knew exactly what I wanted, I knew all the games they would play and watched them try them all. It took eight visits over three months and the car was totally worth it and exactly what I wanted. I had to persevere to get a good price and monthly payment.
