Both of those lawsuits were dismissed. That doesn’t seem like terribly good precedent.

This could eventually lead to issues of product liability. Parents may sue a sperm facility for a product that failed to meet specifications, or worse, they may reject a child outright.

I’m not sure I heard “made in China” in any of the news stories. Call me crazy, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ban a product that spontaneously bursts into flames from airplanes. Fix the problem, and we’ll talk again.

I think I saw on CNN that there have been 12 incidents in the United States. Lets say that it’s 4 times that now and there’s been somewhere around 50 explosions in the entire United States...out of how many?

I was talking about unmanned missions, but you (and many of the other folks who responded) are right, I didn't think about how radiation can damage computer equipment.

After there, I went to the Air Force for 10 years and worked on RF Satellite terminals, so I suppose I'm lucky I was reproduce.

This is my favorite comment thread today

Out of curiosity, why does it matter how safe it is? If there is some technique in which it can be safely handled long enough to create the unmanned probe or rover (or whatever), why does it matter how much radiation it then leaks into space?

Found it, here. Page 181. It looks like most of the process happens at pretty high temperatures (around 1500 degrees C). The pressure seems to be around 190 standard atmospheres. I think the difference is that Plutonium fuel is in Plutonium Oxide that has undergone calcination. As opposed to straight plutonium metal

Seems to me Apple should get in on this for the iPhone 6s battery.

This is pretty terrifying.

"In the end, the reason mankind died on this dirtball was not because of war or famine, but a lack of foresight. They used up everything that could have helped them escape."

This is insanely fascinating.

Why not a Mr. Fusion? It worked for the Nostromo.

Iran just wants to make space ships guys, leave them alone.
