For the most part, building a projector is an exercise in futility. If your projector is cheap, it is too dim to be seen in aywhere but a cave, and if it is bright enough, you have to deal with added cost of the expensive bulbs, quality lenses and cooling issues. It makes about as much sense as building your own TV.
