Until it lands on your head or windshield from 500 feet. There is more danger here than just to other aircraft.

What was it doing there? Probably flying a route that was pre-coordinated and deconflicted with local aviation authorities.

The main rotor moves at 725fps or close to 500mph. Depending on air speed that can put it close to the speed of sound. Hitting a 5lb object at that speed can cause serious damage to pretty much anything.

Stay under 400 feet AGL. It’s a regulation for a reason - deconfliction. Apparently it “bounced right off” after denting the fuselage, a transparency, and a rotor. This is why drone operators should be held responsible for being irresponsible - because it’s a behavior that endangers OTHERS.

The trouble with these cameras is that most states actually consider speeding a criminal offense, and the logic at work here doesn’t apply to literally anything else in our criminal justice system.

We also have a right to face our accuser in court. A camera can’t very well testify in a court case. I suppose the company operating the camera can be the accuser, but the only evidence they have is what the camera captured.

Seems like the camera company is Gatso. The name might ring a bell to those from the UK.

I’ll make anyone in support of speed cameras (and honestly let’s throw red light cameras in as well since we know they increase rear-end collisions) a deal.

Fucking Iowa. It’s bad enough that they have troopers sitting all over the interstates to try to catch people speeding through the wasteland because its tourism revenue would otherwise be next to nothing, but they put up fucking speed cameras on the interstate too?
