Treat them like an adult.

It’s not my responsibility to research your policy ideas and somehow make sense of which you want to enact and which you don’t.

The problem here is that you’re trying to have a whole conversation about mental illnesses, treatment, and incarceration when you’re just lacking the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding what people are saying when they discuss these topics.

Yet here they are claiming their bar is higher than his.

And yet, naturally, I’m the ding-dong

A lot of this is also very wrong about how the American system works. My point was that you’re clearly not well-versed in the field because you don’t recognize that most of us hate insurance companies dictating our ability to provide service, but this all just emphasizes that you’re just not familiar with the subject.

...stigmata? That’s wounds appearing like the ones on Jesus. Bloody hands and shit. I’m thinking maybe you need to look up these words, yourself.

If racism without persecution is simply an exercise in free speech, it’s legal, but is a frowned upon opinion, then yes of course.  They do deserve compassion.

You will note from counting stars that you’re the only one giving Yang’s words such a generous read.

edit: also, I can’t imagine you know all that much at all about the field if you see me saying that I’m a psychologist and then think I’m going to defend either for-profit prisons or the state of our mental healthcare system.

Right. Lucid according to our for profit healthcare and prison system. No money in mental healthcare. Plenty of money in prison system.

I think you need to look up what the word stigma, stigmata, and stigmatize mean.

Racism isn’t tied to ANY mental illnesses.

Ya’ll are ridiculous. This isn’t stigmatizing anything. This is pointing out that previously accepted social norms, are not normal, and need to be recognized as such. It does not mean all mentally ill people are violent, which is how you took it, I’m asking the question, are violent people mentally ill. Which is

Just to clarify, I 100% agree that racism might sometimes present as a symptom of other mental illnesse

Do you know how words work? That’s not at all what I said.

As a psychologist: the vast majority of violence is committed by people with no diagnosable mental illness.

No. Stop it. This is a bad take. Perfectly sane people do bad shit all the time.

The rise in attacks on Asian Americans in the wake of COVID is a genuine problem, but using it as an excuse to crack down on sick people is not the right answer.

Mentally ill people have rights, but you know who else has rights? We do!
