My dad has a base model F250 (5 speed!) with the vinyl seats. My work has a loaded King Ranch F250. If I need to borrow a truck, I use the King Ranch every time. Driving home with cooled seats after a day of work is a delight.

The biggest “hell no” on a base model jeep is the cloth top. Seen too many get cut or damaged in some way from thieves looking for a way in.”

The C8 is indeed a lot of car for the money. The base model is undoubtedly one of the best deals out there (maybe ever?).

Again:

1LT C8 Corvette Stingray -- the extra stuff in the higher trims is cool but man (if you can) bag one of these for $60k... anything beyond the LT2 behind you is superfluous.

No.... No, man...Shit, no man. I believe you’d get your ass kicked driving somethin like that, man.

While the supercharged 3.8L is a decent engine for the period, and typically lasts forever, do NASCAR fans who actually know anything about cars have any respect for a Monte Carlo like this? It’s like the ultimate ‘poser’ car...

Someone already suggested a W body Monte Carlo, which was the first thing that came to my mind. The second thing was a 9th or 10th generation Thunderbird. Look for one with a V8 or naturally aspirated V6 for simplicity’s sake. It’s pure Americana from the overly large body to the deceptively small interior.

Hot take incoming.

One of these was my first car. It was an ‘89 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo. Midnight blue, with a matching interior. My dad had purchased it new. In November of ‘97, after finally having saved up enough money, my dad sold it to me for $3000. It was such a cool looking car, and the interior looked like the future. Those

There won’t be enough of these sold to make a damned bit of difference. How about waving your flaming torches at the million and a half or so pickups sold every year in the US that don’t get much of any better in the real world? A million plus of which do no more work than hauling their owner’s asses from McMansion to

Because we’d like for climate change not to ruin lives? Because we’d like there to be humans able to live on this planet in the future? Because we’d like to slow the human-caused mass extinction event that is ongoing right now?

Australia had its hottest spring on record, and the American West is sizzling through one of the hottest springs on record and a mega drought, yet so many people still don’t give a shit to do their part to help out. They just keep buying heavy-polluting trucks and SUVs. Not everyone needs to jump on the EV bandwagon

I need a 4-seating-row vehicle or else there’s just not enough space for my 3.5 kids and 1.5 dogs to get to soccer practice with all their hockey gear. Not to mention family vacations with a boat on the roof and pulling the 42' camper.  You might not need this to replace your prius for trips to the smoothie bar, but

I had a conversation a couple years ago with a Cadillac rep just before the Blackwing CT6 was to come out and I’d commented on how nice it was that car (at the time) still had a conventional lever. He grimaced and said the refresh would be going to an electronic toggle lever due to space savings in the console. But

I hope the next mail truck looks like this.

Good point! Probably not many. There is nothing wrong with a poor person with reliable transportation. There are far wealthier people gaming the system for more money than food stamps are worth

Besides, on anything fragile, expensive, and heavy and/or awkwardly shaped, you might consider how to make the transition from their responsibility to yours occur as far downstream as possible.

Appliances? Yeah, those would get delivered even if I had a big pickup, because I don’t have a forklift or a loading dock at my house.

All hail the physical button. Nothing is as safe. It’s always where you left it. There is physical feedback when you use it. No need to ever take your eyes off the road.
