I’d like to think that this wouldn’t collapse into an elaborate “and it was all a dream” ending, but I’ve seen better tv shows with worse endings, so...

Well, at least the shitty commenting stays the same level. Thanks for that!

Ugh. This is such a precious and twee comment, underpinned with a little classical Orientalism. He’s just an actor. A skilled actor, but an actor nonetheless. There’s no magical, unique quality to this one specific actor that makes him irreplaceable. Many actors have played Hamlet, and many can play Aku.

First of all - the comic is VERY dated. There’s no other comic that defines “the 90s” better than Preacher, except Spawn I guess. Angels and demons at war with each other, and a man inheriting godly power? A man who wants to stick it to God? Vampires? This is all stuff very much from a generation ago. Might as well

To know, you’d have to watch the trailer. I recommend leaving the mystery alone. It’s not worth it.

Ah ha! I was wondering what that insipid Justin Timberlake song was all about. Now I understand it’s horrible, horrible genesis.

Really? I got through the first half of ep 01, and turned it off. It’s missing a lot of the vulgarity, but the amount of violence is staggeringly high. It’s also pretty aimless and meandering.

Counterpoint to anything James Cameron ever says:

This is neither here nor there, but as a man with a very new baby, living in an urban area with a LOT of porsches:

Alfredo sauces can be more healthy if you make them yourself. Much of the cream can be replaced with starchy water from the pasta itself.

Another helpful tip: Every time you say “no” to shitty food is a single victory. Don’t look at it as an endless struggle. It’s a thousand tiny battles. And the more victories you get the better.

My guess is that “essentially Japanese” means this guy:

The correct answer to “does Bill Maher still have a show” is exactly this: shock and disbelief.

You were a kid, and you appreciated Preacher with one portion of your mind that changed in a way that didn’t work the same as you aged.

*yawn*

Nope. Not wrong. Preacher was fine for a late-90s angsty “lets push the envelope with crassness” kind of thing. But now the irreligiosity is booooring, not exciting. It’s enervated.

The short and accurate answer?

That’s being a dupe. That’s not “innocence”. In this show in particular, that’s a sin, not a redeeming quality. Sweetness would belong to characters like Samwell, who extend to others the chance to be better, while understanding that they are likely to never accept.

That’s not really a thing you’re supposed to care about. Joffrey was young, and nobody gave a shit about him being “dominated”. Narratively, each king is doomed by their flaw, and Tommen’s is weakness.

but she had to pay yet another price for it: poor, sweet, innocent Tommen.
